Voluntary Intern Placement (VIP) Program 2019

Voluntary Intern – Summer and Winter Internships - Volunteer Basis

The Voluntary Intern Placement (VIP) Program will run for two weeks in January 2019 and again in July 2019 (exact dates yet to be confirmed).

Participants in the program will complete 75 hours of voluntary work in a section of Legal Aid WA under the supervision of the Legal Practice Development division and an appointed solicitor.

Participants will generally be given a set of tasks to undertake during this time.  This may include research, preparing submissions, assisting on file matters and assisting with trial preparation.

Limited opportunities may also be available to complete the program during the university semesters. This may be one day per week over 10 weeks, as a block, or as otherwise agreed depending on the task.

Regional placements may be available, however Legal Aid WA will not cover any travel or accommodation costs associated with these placements.

To be eligible, applicants must be law students entering their final year of studies in 2019.  A conflict of interest check will also apply.

The following dates apply to the VIP recruitment and selection process for 2019:

Applications close:    30 November 2018 (5pm WST) 

Successful applicants will be required to attend an induction day, to be held prior to the start of the January and July programs (dates yet to be confirmed).
