The Corruption and Crime Commission (CCC) is a leading anti-corruption agency whose primary purpose is to improve the integrity of and reduce the incidence of serious misconduct and corruption in the Western Australian Public Sector.

 

The Legal Services Directorate supports the Commission in the performance of its functions under the Corruption, Crime and Misconduct Act 2003 (CCM Act) and other legislation by providing independent advice, representation, training and leadership in relation to all aspects of the Commission's business and operations. Legal Services also manage stakeholder relationships and represent the Commission in external forums.

 

THE OPPORTUNITIES

Critical to the Commission's success is our team of legal officers who undertake a diverse range of functions within the Legal Services Directorate.

 

The following roles provide a unique opportunity for motivated lawyers to contribute to the continuing enhancement and growth of the Commission's legal capability.

 

LAWYER

Under the supervision of the Principal Legal Officers and Senior Lawyers, the Lawyers (Level SC 2/3) provide high quality legal advice and support on routine matters in relation to all aspects of the Commission's activities and business.

 

To be successful in this role, applicants will be required to:

  • Demonstrate some (SC2) or considerable (SC3) experience in one or more of the areas of practice specified in the JDF;
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to provide quality legal advice and possess the ability to assist in the conduct of proceedings before courts, tribunals and the Commission;
  • Demonstrate experience in interpreting and applying legislation and an understanding of the role of the Commission in public sector oversight.

Experience in unexplained wealth investigations or litigation would be beneficial but not essential.

 

SENIOR LAWYER

The Senior Lawyer (Level SC 4/5) provides the Commission with high quality legal advice and support in relation to the performance by the Commission of the purposes conferred by section 7A of the CCM Act and supports the Director, Legal Services and Principal Legal Officers in their roles.

 

To be successful in this role, applicants will be required to:

  • Demonstrate considerable (SC4) or substantial (SC5) experience in one or more of the areas of practice specified in the JDF;
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to provide quality legal advice on complex legal questions and possess the ability to assist in the conduct of proceedings before courts, tribunals and the Commission;
  • Demonstrate experience in interpreting and applying legislation and an understanding of the role of the Commission in public sector oversight.

Experience in unexplained wealth investigations or litigation would be beneficial but not essential.

Candidates must be Australian citizens or be immediately eligible for Australian Citizenship. Appointment is conditional on satisfactory completion of a rigorous security clearance process.

 

Candidates must be admitted, or eligible for admission, as a practitioner of the Supreme Court of Western Australia at time of appointment.
