About this role
The Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) Renal Medicine department is an energetic unit offering clinical work in all aspects of renal medicine including a large home dialysis program and the largest renal transplantation centre in Perth, including performing simultaneous liver kidney transplants. We also do have a dedicated conservative care, adolescent transitional (with the Perth Children’s Hospital located next to our hospital) and renal genetics clinics. Our renal team visits regional Western Australia and works with indigenous communities (with additional renumeration). The consultant medical team has active academic connections to the University of Western Australia, Curtin University, The Harry Perkins Research Institute among other affiliations. The current consultant group combined have numerous active national research grants and are participants in international and national research collaborations. Areas of active research includes long term follow-up of renal donors, personalised autoimmune medicine, renal transplantation among others. We have a growing patient population and are interested in a dynamic clinician to join our team.
This position leads the multidisciplinary team to provide specialist medical services to patients. Promotes patient safety and quality of care; provides leadership, orientation, training, supervision, and education, where relevant, for doctors in training, Health Service Medical Practitioners and other health workers; in collaboration with the Head of Department and other Consultants works to achieve national, state and NMHS performance standards and targets; works within the scope of clinical practice as defined and recommended by the North Metropolitan Health Service Medical Credentialing Committee.
This role reports to the Head of Department, Renal Medicine. .
