We are seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principals for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Falcon Primary School is located in the coastal suburb of Falcon, Mandurah. The school is well known in the community for its warm, welcoming, and family friendly reputation. In recent years, Falcon PS has embarked on a significant improvement agenda, with a strong focus on building consistency across classrooms through low variance, evidence based practices. The Role

The Deputy Principals will work closely with the Principal and Leadership Team members to provide strategic leadership that drives school improvement, enhances teaching quality, and supports the diverse needs of students. The suitable applicants should be instructional leaders and advocate for students at educational risk, with the capacity to foster a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Deputy Principals may be responsible for:

Instructional Leadership

  • Lead the development and implementation of whole-school curriculum and pedagogy, with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy.
  • Drive consistency and quality of instruction through explicit teaching, high-impact strategies, and evidence-based practices.
  • Use student achievement data (NAPLAN, Brightpath, PAT, DIBELS) to inform planning, assessment, and targeted intervention.
  • Build staff capability through coaching, mentoring, and feedback aligned to the school’s pedagogical framework
  • Foster collective teacher efficacy and consistency of practice through Professional Learning and Performance Management processes
  • Support whole-school assessment and reporting processes to ensure accuracy, alignment, and accountability.

Leadership of Students at Educational Risk (SAER)

  • Lead the development and implementation of inclusive practices for students with disability and diverse learning needs.
  • Oversee case management and documented planning (IEPs, IBPs, PLPs) in collaboration with staff, families, and external agencies.
  • Coordinate disability resourcing and targeted intervention programs to address academic, social, and emotional needs.
  • Promote trauma-informed, preventative behaviour support strategies within a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS).
  • Champion a positive behaviour support approach, embedding consistent expectations and routines across the school.
  • Manage student behaviour and whole school attendance processes
  • Monitor and analyse behaviour and attendance data to guide early intervention, decision-making, and resource allocation.
  • Act as liaison with families and external services to provide wraparound support for vulnerable students.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Contribute to strategic planning, school self-assessment, and the implementation of Business and Operational Plans.
  • Line manage staff, supporting their performance development and professional growth.
  • Ideally, build strong, respectful relationships with students, staff, families, and the community to promote engagement and success.
  • Ideally, lead change with resilience and integrity, fostering a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
