This is a permanent part-time (0.6 FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2025

The Role

As an Education Assistant - Auslan, you provide the highest level of access to the curriculum for Deaf students with Auslan sign language interpreting and teacher directed tutoring, according to the needs of the students. The successful applicant would assist the teacher in delivering planned education programs and encouraging a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The successful applicant may be involved in team situations, work under limited supervision, and may be required to engage in consultation and provide feedback. The role may require discretion in problem solving, decision making, and choosing methods and processes to achieve educational outcomes that are determined through consultation with the teacher, or other professionals.

The successful applicant will ideally have well developed written and verbal communication skills, be able to work well as part of a team and have a good understanding of the issues affecting deaf or hard of hearing students. You should have the ability to show initiative in completing tasks combined with strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and families.
