This is a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 4, 2024.
Kensington Secondary School (KSS) holds a distinctive and vital role within the WA education system, as the only stand-alone secondary education support school dedicated exclusively to young people with disabilities. At KSS, our commitment extends beyond the classroom; dedicated to equipping our students with the essential skills necessary for a successful, fulfilling, and engaged life beyond their school years.
With a new permanent Principal, KSS is focused on ensuring that our practices are not only contemporary but also forward-thinking. We are in the process of refining our curriculum to align with the Essential For Living Curriculum, with a particular emphasis on the Essential 8 skills.
These Essential 8 skills are crucial for our students, serving as the foundation for their ability to navigate everyday challenges, build meaningful relationships, and participate fully in their communities. By embedding these skills into our curriculum, we are ensuring that our students are prepared to live as independently as possible, with the confidence and capability to pursue their aspirations.

The Role
Join our team as a Gardener/Handyperson and contribute to fostering a positive learning environment!
As a key member, you'll be instrumental in maintaining the school grounds, ensuring they are safe, tidy, and conducive to a positive environment for both students and staff. From overseeing the turf areas, garden beds and shrubs to managing hard landscaping features like courts and paving, you'll play a vital role in creating an inviting and inspiring outdoor space.
Your commitment to maintaining gardening facilities, equipment, and tools in a good condition will be important in promoting a positive culture within the school. You will be required to perform minor repairs and maintenance in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines.
We currently have a contract gardener/handyperson fulfilling this role and our desire is to bring on our new permanent person alongside our contract gardener/handyperson at some stage in Term 4 to ensure a smooth handover.
