Riva Primary School (PS), located in Piara Waters, opened in 2022 for Kindergarten to Year 6 students, including students with special needs, and is a dynamic and rapidly growing school, with a team of over 100 staff working to make our better school, every day, for our 760 students.

The Role
Suitable applicants will assist in the provision of specialised education support programs and classes, tailored to the needs of small groups of students. They will deliver differentiated teaching and structured learning environments in which the required instructional, curriculum and environmental adjustments support all students to achieve their potential.
Suitable applicants will ideally be motivated, compassionate, flexible, highly organised, and possess a deep knowledge of pedagogy specific to students with disability. In these positions it is highly desirable that you are familiar with, or willing to learn, strategies and use of evidence-based programs such as Discrete Trial Training, Mastery Learning, Direct Instruction, Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication related Handicapped Children (TEACCH), task analysis and the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), to work effectively with a diverse range of students.
Highly developed classroom management skills are important in creating the safe and caring environments required for optimal learning to take place, as is the use of collaborative planning to support targeted and sustainable behaviour interventions. Proficiency in the use of assessment to identify ability, interests, progress and areas for development is well regarded, as is the ability to develop plans/programs aligned with identified individualised student outcomes. Suitable applicants will ideally possess outstanding communication skills and display leadership within the classroom and wider community.
