We are seeking to establish a pool of Teacher – PEACs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of April 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The Role
PEAC teachers are responsible for the planning, and delivery of supplementary extension and challenge programs for identified Gifted and Talented students in Years 5 & 6 in Primary Schools in the Western Australian public system. North Metropolitan PEAC also offers an Early Years Extension Program PEAC teachers work as part of a regional team to deliver an outcomes-focussed, differentiated curriculum for students identified as gifted and talented.
North Metropolitan PEAC aims to cultivate, active and successful learners with transferable critical and creative thinking skills, with access to authentic and challenging learning opportunities.
Applicants with the following attributes will be highly regarded:
- Experience in programming work that demonstrates practical use of relevant models of differentiation to cater for gifted students
- Advocacy of the special learning needs of high potential students
- Innovation, flexibility and autonomy
- Critical thinking, conceptual and strategic analytical skills
- Implementation of the current Western Australian Curriculum General Capabilities particularly in Creative and Critical Thinking and Personal and Social Capability
- Experience in catering for twice exceptional students
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience working collaboratively and flexibly within and across teams
- Expertise with IT equipment and software
- Professional and positive outlook
- Effective presentation and facilitation skills
- Knowledge of contemporary research related to Gifted and Talented students.
Responsibilities include:
- Development and delivery of engaging and challenging teaching and learning programs for gifted and talented students
- Assessment and reporting of student progress
- Participation in regional planning and program reviews
- Delivery of professional learning support and programs
- Maintaining contact with students’ school
- Provision of advice and support for parents
- Management of the student records
The North Metropolitan Education Region stretches across the metropolitan area from Mosman Park to Lancelin and east to Wooroloo. Placement could occur at various venues across the region and a willingness to work at more than one location across a week required.
