Yanchep Rise Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistants – Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2025. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
As Education Assistant – Special Needs you will form part of our dedicated team of staff working with students with a range of special needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Cerebral Palsy (CP), Global Developmental Delay (GDD) and other mental health and developmental disabilities and/or disorders. In this role, you will collaborate with the classroom teacher to assist in the planning and delivery of educational programs to support the learning and development of students with special needs. Building meaningful relationships with children with special needs and their families will be an important part of this role, and as such, effective communication and interpersonal skills will be required.
Suitable applicants will assist teaching staff in the delivery of planned education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. You will also provide feedback when required on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to student progress. The ability to assist with the general health and wellbeing of students is required.
We seek Education Assistants who are committed to maximising their impact on student learning and who work well within a team environment. - Good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
