Appointment Pool
Are you a creative, skilled and nurturing early childhood specialist teacher with a commitment to consistent and connected practice in a positive school culture?
Hilton Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of collaborative and skilled Early Childhood Education Teachers with excellent interpersonal skills and a growth mindset for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 3 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2025.
We are seeking applicants who are excited about teaching, from K to Year 3. Most Hilton PS K-2 teachers are early childhood specialist teachers. Please note that suitable applicants may be required to teach in Year 1, Year 2 or Year 3 classes. As a teacher at Hilton PS, you will ideally be commited to our positive school culture, collegiality and further school improvement. You should engage children in learning, cater for diverse needs and create a nurturing learning environment.
At Hilton PS, “Every child’s learning is nurtured every day”. Our strategic plan for Growth 2021-2024, includes the values of Community, Care, Inclusivity, Creativity and Sustainability. Our three focus areas are: Excellence in teaching and learning; Positive Partnerships; and A great place to learn and grow. Our staff contribute to the development of consistent and connected practice with attention to lesson design and data based planning. Hilton staff also implement whole school CMS (Classroom Management Strategies) and PBS (Positive Behaviour Support).
Hilton PS staff are continuing to reflect on, and refine, our daily Literacy and Numeracy teaching blocks to embed structured, synthetic phonics, with Letters & Sounds resources. Talk For Writing provides the basis of our writing pedagogy. Our K-PP and Years 1-2, Phase of Learning (PoL) teams contribute to the development & review of our key documents: Teaching English at Hilton PS, Teaching Maths at Hilton PS. During 2024, we have accessed Top Ten Maths to increase our strong focus on the use of manipulatives to develop and apply mathematical thinking. We are undertaking an action research project with K & PP staff called: Inside Out. Through this project, our K-PP Team are becoming more intentional about using provocations to Literacy and Numeracy play outside our classrooms (as well as inside the classrooms.) We continuously review our philosophy and practice of balancing play-based learning with intentional teaching and nature pedagogy.
We currently have 370 students, from K to Year 6. Our student growth is particularly strong in the Early Childhood classes. We are well supported by a very cohesive, supportive community on spacious grounds. We enjoy beautiful outdoor classrooms: “Everything we can teach inside a classroom, we can teach outside.” We strive to differentiate our teaching, learning and play for every student, every day.
In addition to the strong representation of First Nations people, Hilton PS includes 17 other language groups, predominantly German and French speaking families. We host German, French and English speaking playgroups weekly; and an Aboriginal Families group, at various times.
