School Of Special Educational Needs: Medical and Mental Health (SSEN:MMH) is seeking enthusiastic and professional Manager Corporate Services to join their corporate services team.
About our school
SSEN:MMH is one of seven Specialist Schools within Statewide Services. The SSEN:MMH administrative centre is based at Perth Children’s Hospital in Nedlands, with metropolitan programs multi-located in hospital and community health settings across the north and south metropolitan education regions. Staff are also placed in regional positions through the state. Staff are timetabled to programs across SSEN:MMH campuses including Bentley, Joondalup, Midland, Murdoch, Nedlands, Shenton Park, and Tuart Hill to ensure we meet the needs of students from Kindergarten to Year 12 and to improve the educational outcomes of students. Our LETS (Liaise, Educate, Transition and Support) model of support ensures continuity in education through engagement in learning and transition to the student’s enrolling school or alternative educational program.
The school’s corporate services team collaborates to provide excellent financial, physical and human resource management, effective administrative support for school operations and responsive engagement with stakeholders and the community. The corporate services team is mostly located at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) in Nedlands although timetabled days at other campuses may be required. Parking at some campuses is only available by application with limited availability for specific circumstances, however there is frequent access to PCH and other health campuses via public transport.
About the Role
The successful applicant will be an integral member of the leadership team. High level financial management skills and experience in operational planning is desired as well as a sound knowledge of HRMIS, RM Finance, Asset Manager, and experience utilising the School Resourcing System. The successful applicant should display high attention to detail and a sound knowledge of Department policies and guidelines.
The successful applicant will ideally possess excellent interpersonal acumen and be an innovative and strategic thinker, with the capacity to work proficiently with others. Building a positive team culture and maintaining productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders is imperative in this role, as is mentoring, developing and managing school support staff. The successful applicant should have excellent organisational skills and possess the ability to plan and prioritise tasks as part of effectively leading productive teams in a busy environment. Highly developed communication skills will be valuable.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Leadership skills in the delivery of business outcomes and sound customer service principles and practices.
- Well developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to use effective negotiation skills.
- Sound financial management skills, including budget preparation and the ability to interpret and apply financial and accounting practices and procedures.
- Sound human resource management skills, including the ability to develop and/or apply human resource management practices and systems.
- Ability to provide input into the development, implementation and monitoring of business and marketing plans.
- Sound conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
