Hannans Primary School (PS) is seeking a hard-working and dedicated Cleaner to join their friendly team.
About the Role
As cleaner, you will carry out internal cleaning duties, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting, rubbish removal, and other items of general cleaning. In addition to this, you would also carry out external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of verandas and covered areas, cleaning of drinking troughs, removal of cobwebs, other general cleaning and other duties such as required by the Cleaner-In-Charge.
The successful applicant should have good communication and interpersonal skills. You should be a highly motivated and proactive person who takes pride in being responsible for providing a high standard of cleanliness within the workplace to provide a visually pleasing and safe learning environment for our students, staff and visitors of the school. The successful applicant should be team focused but able to work independently and with initiative and will ideally be able to follow instructions.

Hannans PS was established in 1992 to cater for the demand of an expanding Kalgoorlie-Boulder community. Throughout the past 20 years the school has built a strong and proud school community who are actively involved in the education of all students. Our school has a diverse student population of over 400 from 21 nationalities including 7% of Aboriginal students. Eligibility and Training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
