Champion Bay Senior High School (SHS) is an Independent Public School (IPS) seeking to appoint a passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher, ideally with excellent interpersonal skills to join our friendly school.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Champion Bay Senior High School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $5,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Champion Bay SHS will work with its fourth cohort of Year 12 students in 2024. In addition, the school has a number of alternative pathways in the senior school. Therefore, having a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will be highly regarded.
The successful applicant for this position should be student and relationship focused, innovative and motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in team environments. You should possess the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to develop and implement an engaging and relevant secondary school English curriculum, as well as the Engagement pathway mentioned above. Ideally, as an expert practitioner you should possess a commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self-reflection.
Teachers at Champion Bay SHS are expected to provide integrated, personalised and authentic learning experiences for students. You will ideally have knowledge of high impact teaching strategies, formative assessment, CMS approaches in building positive relationships and engaging families in their child’s learning. As a teacher at our school, you should be committed to helping to develop and implement our school wide pedagogical framework.
The school has a strong Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) focus, working in a collaborative partnership with local primary schools, industry and tertiary education. The successful applicant will ideally possess the ability to develop innovative classroom practices utilising the school’s Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure and embed 21st Century Skills within their teaching and learning.

Champion Bay SHS located in Geraldton, opened in 2019 and caters for students in Year 7 to 12 in 2024. We are currently a partner in the Geraldton Lighthouse Program, a program developing and implementing best practice for students with autism.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement.
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement.
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
