The Role and our Branch
The South Metropolitan Education Region is seeking a Coordinator – South Metropolitan PEAC (Primary Extension and Challenge) Program to join their team.
The South Metropolitan Education Regional Office (SMERO) supports the Department’s priorities in Western Australia and commits to delivering a full and engaging standard of public education, supportive of students, teachers and parents. The South Metropolitan Education Region comprises of more than 270 public schools across the south metropolitan area from Redcliffe to Waroona.

The successful applicant will provide educational leadership to the PEAC team, including all teaching and support staff, in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Education. They will lead the development and implementation of a strategic plan that contains targets related to student achievement, along with the priorities and strategies to achieve them. The successful applicant will lead the teaching and learning program for the region’s gifted and talented students in alignment with the general capabilities in the Western Australian Curriculum. Additionally, they will manage staff performance and development in accordance with the Public Sector Performance Management Standard and Departmental policy.
Who are we
The South Metropolitan PEAC program provides supplementary courses for gifted and talented students in Years 5 and 6, as well as the Early Years Extension program for students in Year 1-3. Classes are run at 7 school sites across the South Metropolitan region. The PEAC administration is based at Curtin Primary School in Manning.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete
- the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
- the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
