Shenton College is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Vocational Education and Training (VET) practitioner. A specialist teacher who will work with the Manager of Vocational Pathways to monitor and support the performance of students in VET programs. We are looking for a teacher who is innovative, can work collaboratively, displays a high level of knowledge about the diversity of vocational pathways and enjoys working with students to create pathway plans that meet individual needs.
The VET Student Liaison teacher will ideally have strong communication skills and be able to effectively liaise with the Shenton College VET team, students, staff, parents, training providers, employers and industry. They would monitor student performance and support positive student outcomes, help students identify and clarify pathways, source high quality vocational training programs and providers.
The successful applicant should hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and will ideally have experience in the delivery of vocational education and training. This role includes a teaching load of up to 0.4FTE and the successful applicant will be working in collaboration with the Shenton College VET and Pathways teams.
As a successful, large school, the College employs over 280 teachers, some of whom will teach within one of our dedicated Middle School Communities (Years 7 and 8), while others will be in our Senior Schools teaching from year 9 through to year 12. Over their time at Shenton College, staff will generally have the opportunity to alternate between the Middle and Senior schools. We run a flexible school day with multiple timetables operating at the same time across 8am – 4.05pm, with collaborative DOTT for staff on Wednesday afternoons.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
