Swan View Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a Mathematics Teacher to join their friendly team. Please note, this position has the capacity to commence in Term 4, 2023 if the successful applicant is available.
The location and community
Our school is located in the eastern suburb of Swan View. It is approximately 25 kilometres from the Perth central business district in the Perth Hills on the edge of the Darling Scarp, just to the west of the John Forrest National Park.
We are situated 15 minutes from the Swan Valley, where there are world-class wineries, breweries, distilleries, countless gourmet artisan goods, handcrafted wares, bustling markets, vibrant studios, top-notch eateries and endless experiences, just 25 minutes from Perth.

Our school
Swan View SHS has excellent facilities in a range of specialist areas. These include our state of the art performing arts theatre, design and technology workshops, dance space and art studios. About the role
We are seeking teachers who are ideally strong team players and support improvement in teaching and learning in a Senior High School environment. You will ideally model a culture of self-reflection and engagement in coaching that promotes your professional growth. The successful applicant should have proven abilities in learning program planning and instructional practice to facilitate improved student outcomes.
The successful applicant will ideally have a moral purpose that aligns to the development of students as life-long learners who are resilient, respectful, active community members that are future ready and can realise their potential. This includes the commitment and desire to create and sustain a safe, student-centred environment. You should support the Mathematics Learning Area team to strategically meet the learning needs of all students studying Mathematics curriculum, including students with disabilities and special needs. An ability to teach Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Mathematics would be an advantage.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
