Ridge View Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Arts - Media teacher with excellent interpersonal skills.
Ridge View is a new and growing college which currently has years 7 to 10 and will be preparing for the first Year 11 cohort in 2023. We are seeking highly organised people who have excellent communication skills, are solution focussed and want to contribute to the entire college community. The successful applicant will be someone who can ideally form and maintain strong relationships with students, caregivers and staff as a means to achieving strong outcomes. In 2023, the new Arts building will be ready for use. This building comprises state of the art facilities including media rooms, a film studio, a theatre (320 seat capacity) and tutorial spaces.
The successful applicant will work as part of a dedicated team and have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the school community. The successful applicant will ideally be flexible, creative, and forward thinking, and exhibit their passion for the Arts. You will ideally be confident in teaching students across Years 7 to 12 with particular focus on providing relevant and engaging courses linking to the Western Australian Curriculum. A strong working knowledge of contemporary Media technology and the ability to teach Media Studies across a range of ability levels is highly desirable.
You should have high expectations and a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment. The college is committed to developing staff capacity to embed High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS), as well as an ongoing focus on Responsive Teaching.
As expert practitioners you should have commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self-reflection. You should also be adaptive and able to apply the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching. You will ideally also be able to incorporate current and emerging technologies to best meet the needs of our students based on researched informed practice.

Instructional coaching, observation and feedback are a priority for the college and therefore we are seeking a teacher that will have a growth mindset and a desire for continuous improvement. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
