This is a permanent part-time (0.2FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2022

Collie Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a proactive and dedicated individual to join their team as a Languages Teacher-Indonesian. The position will grow to 0.4 in 2023 with additional FTE available in other learning areas as per the needs of the school.

To be successful in this role you will be able to engage students in the Languages Learning Area and will have strong curriculum knowledge to ensure our students will reach their full potential. Knowledge of, and experience in, Western Australian Curriculum planning, delivery and assessment are essential for this position.

This successful applicant will possess excellent interpersonal skills and be relationship focussed, able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning. You will be innovative, knowledgeable and possess thorough understandings of instructional and curriculum expertise whilst keeping abreast of the latest developments within the Learning Area. You will be reflective in assessing the effectiveness of your teaching practice and able to cultivate a safe and accountable learning environment.

As a school promoting Positive Behaviour Supports the ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in providing an engaging, student-centred curriculum encouraging students to be their best. The key elements to our school are Aspiration, Respect, Commitment and Honesty and all staff are expected to uphold and demonstrate these expectations.

Collie SHS is situated in a very engaging country town just over two hour’s drive south of Perth with great access to the Southwest. There are a wide variety of outdoor activities available in and around the town and it is an excellent starting point to explore this part of the State. GROH housing is currently available, and the position also attracts a district allowance. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in a quality school within the Southwest.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
