Australind Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an enthusiastic, creative and student focused Teacher of Humanities and Social Sciences to join our team.

You will ideally have the capacity to deliver highly engaging programs and possess strong curriculum knowledge across the Humanities and Social Sciences Learning Area to ensure our students can reach their full potential in all aspects. With effective interpersonal skills, you will work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.

The successful applicant should also be able to substantiate a strong commitment to the development of their own pedagogy via avenues such as targeted professional learning, collaboration with colleagues, membership of a professional learning team, use of student feedback surveys and formative assessment.

We are seeking a teacher with the demonstrated ability to self-reflect and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practice, promote an environment of active and positive learning and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. You will have the capacity to deliver highly engaging programs that are relevant to our students' needs. With effective interpersonal skills, you will work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students. Demonstrated capacity to teach ATAR courses and previous experience or qualifications teaching Year 11 or 12 would be highly regarded.

The care we offer each and every student defines our purpose. We have a rigorous student services program which has been set up to ensure all our students are well cared for socially, emotionally, physically and academically.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
