Darling Range Sports College (SC) is seeking a collaborative, dedicated and highly motivated Science teacher to join our Independent Public School. 

To be successful in this role you will ideally be committed to maximising our students’ potential and providing a relevant and engaging learning experience. The successful applicant will be a part of the Science Learning Area and be responsible for planning and developing the Science curriculum in conjunction with the Science team.  It is desirable that the successful applicant has the ability to teach Senior School Science.  The successful applicant should have sound knowledge of the requirements of the Western Australian Curriculum, and have a keen passion to extend our gifted and talented students.

We are looking for a teacher with strong teaching and classroom management skills, and who can develop good relationships with all students and engage them in highly effective learning. You will incorporate a diverse range of thinking strategies into the learning program. In addition, you should be able to work in a team environment, engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks.

Darling Range SC is a Positive Behaviour School that encourages resilient and independent students. The ability to build and maintain safe, positive learning environments where students flourish is important for our students’ success. Effective classroom management is critical in this role.

Darling Range SC provides sporting programs in AFL, Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, Netball, Soccer, Swimming, Triathlon and Rugby.  Complementing our sporting programs are extensive opportunities to participate in the Academic Challenge and Enrichment Program ‘ACES’, the Music Program, the Vocational Educational Program and the Arts Program.

A major focus of the College is also the implementation of Explicit Instruction across all learning areas. Experience using Explicit Instruction in the classroom is not a prerequisite for this position, but the successful applicant should be willing to incorporate this into their teaching practice. Knowledge or completion of CMS (Classroom Management Strategies) and IS (Instructional Strategies) professional workshops would also be highly desirable.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
