About the Role

Wangkatjungka Remote Community School (RCS) are seeking talented, dedicated Kindergarten to Year 6 Teachers to join our team. We seek educators who are enthusiastic in their commitment to providing high quality teaching and learning programs in a supportive and inclusive environment, whilst helping to drive school improvement.

The suitable applicant’s will ideally have the ability to build strong working relationships with both staff and students, display outstanding pedagogical and assessment practice and have highly developed collaborative skills.

The suitable applicant will ideally have excellent interpersonal skills and be capable of creating high quality learning experiences in the classroom. You should show care and consideration for students, display effective behaviour management practices and show a willingness to seek constant improvement in your own practice. Knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and the ability to differentiate for the individual needs of students, resulting in the provision of engaging learning experiences is highly desirable.

Our School

Wangkatjungka RCS was opened in 1962 as Christmas Creek School. Parts of the original school still remain and are highly valued by the school and the community. In 1990, the name of the school changed to Wangkatjungka Remote Community School. Our communities play an active part in school life at Wangkatjungka RCS, ensuring the students are provided with the best, most culturally sensitive learning environment.

The Location and Community

Wangkatjungka RCS is located in a remote Aboriginal community in the Kimberley region, approximately 110km from the nearest town centre, Fitzroy Crossing, including travel 20km of unsealed road. Three stations; Beefwood Park Station, Bulka Station and Christmas Creek Station surround the Wangkatjungka Community.

ELIGIBILITY

TRAINING

  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
