This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2022.
Belmont City College (CC) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Humanities and Social Sciences to join their school.
The successful applicant will ideally be skilled, with a positive attitude and possess the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant Humanities and Social Sciences curriculum, and have a commitment to working collaboratively with students, staff and members of the school community. They should have care and consideration for students, display effective behaviour management practices and a show a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice.
The Humanities and Social Sciences teacher will ideally possess a thorough understanding of the Western Australian curriculum and Senior Secondary Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) courses. Knowledge of the Western Australian curriculum, including the General Capabilities Intercultural Understanding curriculum and the ability to differentiate for individual students, resulting in the provision of engaging learning experiences is highly desirable. It will also be highly desirable for the successful applicant to have experience in the planning, development and delivery of the Year 11 and Year 12 Economics Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) courses and the General Career and Enterprise courses.
The successful applicant should be student and relationship focused, highly motivated, innovative, and able to work effectively in a team environment. You should possess an engaging and energetic teaching style, promoting an environment of active and positive learning in your classroom.
Applicants who have completed the Department of Education’s Classroom Management Strategies Foundation Program are encouraged to apply, along with applicants that have an understanding of the Positive Behaviour in Schools Program (PBS).
Belmont CC has modern facilities and is set in the heart of the City of Belmont which provides the backdrop for our many innovative programs. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
