This is a permanent part-time (0.7FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2021

Governor Stirling Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a hardworking and motivated Music Teacher to continue to build and develop our Music program at the school.

The successful applicant will possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills that will be used to develop and promote the school’s values and priorities across the school community. Working effectively with other teachers in the Arts Learning Area as well as demonstrating quality teaching that enables students to achieve their potential is vital. The successful applicant will work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students both in the classroom and in the instrumental program.

Using evidence-based instructional strategies, the successful applicant will be responsible for delivering the school’s music program in line with the WA Music Curriculum. The ability to teach Music to students from year 7 through to year 12 ATAR students is a requirement of this role. The successful applicant will be able to cater to differing learning styles, utilising effective  teaching and learning strategies to engage and motivate all students. The responsibility of coordinating and supporting the IMSS teachers and the instrumental ensemble program is a critical part of the position, and the successful applicant will demonstrate the passion and drive to promote the value of a musical education to the school and the wider community.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
