This is a permanent part-time (0.8FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2021.
Bicton Primary School (PS) is seeking a passionate Music Specialist Teacher to join our team. As a valuable member of the teaching staff and community, you will need to exhibit a knowledge of how to plan, teach and assess the Western Australian Curriculum in Music for students from Pre-Primary to Year 6.
As our Music Specialist, the successful applicant will ideally possess experience leading and conducting a choir and being involved in the massed choir or One Big Voice. You will be responsible for promoting and developing a visible presence of music within our school community including opportunities such as music assemblies and performances. The Music Specialist will also coordinate the instrumental music program in the school on behalf of “The School for Instrumental Music”.
Our Music Specialist will need to be able to work within a distributed leadership model that incorporates our Administration Team, Team Leaders, Curriculum Leaders and Special Project Leaders. You will need to be collaborative and work with Year Level Teams as well as the Specialist Team. We have a high focus on developing Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and are seeking a Music Specialist with high level interpersonal skills who is willing to continue to develop their EQ.
Bicton PS is located in the established suburb of Bicton, 6km east of Fremantle, near the beautiful Swan River. The school was opened in 1904. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
