Appointment Pool
The Curriculum, Assessment and Strategic Policy Division is seeking to establish a pool of highly motivated and committed Copyright Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 year and up to the end of 2022 year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 year, up to the end of the 2022 year, in the Strategic and External Relations branch.
Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate and apply knowledge of the relevant areas of copyright legislation. They will possess the ability to engage with staff at all levels across the division, with diverse local/national/international copyright owners, and with intellectual property-related organisations and be able to prioritise multiple workload components within tight timelines.
The Copyright Officer will adhere to copyright compliance procedures and assist in the provision of accurate copyright information to division staff. The Copyright Officer will also identify opportunities to improve procedures and compliance.
The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) copyright team operates in a busy, stimulating and challenging area. The work environment is a collaborative one requiring the applicant to be able to work as a part of a team. The School Curriculum and Standards Division provide quality curriculum, assessment and standards to enable all Western Australian students to become confident, creative learners and active, informed citizens who contribute positively to society.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Considerable knowledge and understanding of copyright legislation, particularly the provisions relating to government use of copyright material.
- Well developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
- Well developed organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and to tight timelines.
- Well developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Well developed computer processing skills, particularly in the use of databases to accurately manage large amounts of information.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
