Alkimos College is seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Science teacher. The successful applicant will be an expert, passionate teacher of Science, with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. Alkimos College opened in 2020 with 176 Year 7 students and will add an additional cohort in 2021 so that we will have Year 7 and 8 and by 2025 will have the full complement of Year 7-12. The successful applicant will therefore demonstrate the professional knowledge, understanding and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary Science curriculum, from the early and middle adolescent phases of learning through to senior secondary courses. They will be enthusiastic adopters of a college wide instructional framework based on explicit teaching and instructional skills, strategies and tactics. The successful applicant will be committed to personal and professional growth and will embrace opportunities for collaboration within the college.
Successful applicants will demonstrate the ability to develop innovative classroom practices and utilise IT to provide integrated, personalised and authentic learning experiences for students. A key attribute is the ability to create environments conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are fun, purposeful, relevant and cater for differing student learning needs. Commitment to the college health and well-being program (Anchor) and extra-curricular activities (Academies) will be essential to this role, as well as active promotion of the college motto, values and vision within the college and wider community.
Flexibility to teach across other learning areas is advantageous and may be required subject to organisational needs.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
