Appointment Pool
Statewide Services is seeking to recruit a pool of highly motivated, solutions focused and committed Principal Consultants in the Complex Cases: Reporting, Monitoring and Placement branch based at Statewide Services in Padbury for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies that may arise in 2020 up to the end of term 2, 2021. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within 2020, up to the end of term 2, 2021
In collaboration with the Principal Advisor, they will work as part of a dedicated team providing practical, accurate and timely advice with information and support to schools and networks. The successful applicant will collaborate and liaise on shared priorities and initiatives to deliver integrated services and support. This will include the development of practical resources and the integration of system level data processes that informs targeted areas for reporting and improvement.
The Principal Consultant will review, develop and maintain strong consistent processes for managing the exclusion process and provide advice and quality assurance at key points throughout the process. They will also monitor and quality assure other processes related to areas that require system or policy related notifications.
The Statewide Services Division is responsible for the central portfolios that deliver support services to students and schools across the State to improve educational outcomes for all students. This includes ensuring there is state-wide integration of support to schools and students, providing policy advice, allocating resources, and monitoring programs and services to ensure high standards.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Substantial knowledge and understanding of contemporary, evidence-based practices related to student support services.
- Skills and experience in developing and implementing successful student programs, projects or strategies at the school, region, network and/or system level.
- Ability to provide leadership and influence change related to student support services.
- Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to provide innovative solutions to strategic and complex problems and issues.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to successfully undertake consultations, collaborations and negotiations with senior officers, school leaders and other stakeholders.
- Highly developed written communication and presentation skills, including experience in the preparation of complex reports, briefing notes and professional learning documentation.

Eligibility & Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
