This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 4, 2019

Goomalling Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic teacher to join their school. In this role the successful applicant will support the students at Goomalling PS with improved learning outcomes through collaborative development and implementation of school based learning plans and priorities.

Suitable applicants will have the ability to work collaboratively in teacher teams, to plan and implement effective teaching and learning techniques and strategies. You will be required to be engaging professionally with colleagues and the community, provide excellence in creating and maintaining supportive and safe learning environments, while providing excellent pastoral care to students in multi-age classrooms. Inviting students to learn is an emphasis at Goomalling PS; with an Invitational Education focus on high-quality teaching and curriculum activities that engage and extend students. Goomalling PS is developing and streamlining whole school approaches to English and Mathematics and the successful applicant will need to engage with this process. The behaviour management model at the school is based on strong CMS practices.

Goomalling PS is located in the Goomalling Shire and is situated 136kms north east of Perth, Western Australia. Goomalling is historically known for wheat and sheep farming and is situated 46kms from Northam, the nearest major township. Over half of the school population live on farms and commute daily on the school bus service.

Sporting events play a major role in wheat belt towns. Goomalling PS participates in Interschool Sports Carnivals, Faction Carnivals, Swimming Carnivals and Warrior Cricket Carnival.

Goomalling PS is well supported by the P & C Association and the School Council. The school works closely and is well supported by the Shire of Goomalling and the wider Goomalling Community.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
