People need to get to work, home and everywhere in between and businesses rely on our roads. With a rich history dating back to 1926 and exciting future ahead, Main Roads Western Australia is the WA State Government agency responsible for managing the State's road network safely, connecting people and places. Main Roads is not just about roads. It’s about people.

About the Role

The position is based in Main Roads Head Office in East Perth within our Regional Management and Operations Directorate. As a Contract Manager you will work as part of a small team managing a range of long-term state-wide contracts (including panel contracts) to ensure the efficient delivery of roads and bridge construction and maintenance work in all the regions.

The role will work closely with regional delivery teams, related corporate support areas and contractors to ensure the achievement of corporate objectives. As part of the Delivery Planning and Contracts team, you will have a unique opportunity to influence Main Roads’ approach to regional delivery and ensure a sustainable supply chain. This includes reviewing performance of existing contracts and contractors and preparing new contracts (including panel contracts) to ensure efficient and effective delivery of Main Roads regional programs.

You will also provide specialist advice to Main Roads delivery teams relating to contractual matters and develop, maintain and improve contract management processes and systems.

About You

The role will suit someone with a mix of relevant technical expertise and commercial acumen, who can engage with a diverse range of stakeholders to meet organisational objectives. You will need to manage competing priorities and be willing to undertake challenging tasks to achieve desired outcomes.

The role will be predominately office-based with some working from home considered. Some previous experience working on road and/or bridge construction and/or maintenance sites is essential, however the role will not require the successful applicant to be based on a site or work typical site hours. Occasional (planned) travel to regions may be required.

Given the above, the role may suit someone with family commitments, such as managing school drop offs and/or pick-ups. Part time employment may be considered depending on the applicant.

This is an excellent opportunity for a result-driven person to develop their career by joining an innovative team within Main Roads. Our environment encourages people to improve business practices and actively contribute to the strategic direction of Main Roads.

What We Offer

At Main Roads, you can have a challenging, flexible, and rewarding career that takes you exactly where you want to go with an organisation that supports a healthy work-life balance to help with what is important to you.

In addition to our competitive salary and 11.5% superannuation, some of the benefits to working with Main Roads include:

  • Attractive leave provisions
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Training and development opportunities
  • Health and wellbeing focus.
