WA College of Agriculture – Cunderdin (WACOA) is seeking a dedicated Technical Officer, who is able to forge positive relationships with young adults in an agricultural training environment.

The WACOA – Cunderdin is located approximately 3 kilometres from the town site and operates a commercial size farm; has extensive education and training resources and is a Registered Training Organisation.

The Role

The successful applicant will provide on-the-job workplace training to year 11 and 12 students, delivering and assessing Units of competency in Certificates II & III in Agriculture and be responsible for Workplace Health and Safety requirements. The ability to role model outstanding employability skills and to work with students in a teaching/training capacity and work as part of a team, is essential to be successful in this position.

The Farm Technical Officer will assist with the duties associated with the running of the College Farm, for this role you will ideally have experience in sheep production systems and duties will include operation of machinery and equipment, assisting with the feeding, shearing and management of a 3000 sheep flock as well as maintaining the farm's infrastructure such as fencing. To fulfil these requirements, the successful applicant will need a C-class driver’s license and will be supported to gain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, as well as a HR license within 12 months of commencement, all funded by the College. On top of the Level 1, 2, and 3 salary packages stated, an additional 150 hrs overtime per year is paid fortnightly as part of the Technical Officer salary package and this is used during rostered weekend duties and as required and agreed on by the Manager and Technical Officer.

Please note: The salary level for this position will be determined after the successful applicant is assessed as addressing all eligibility and selection criteria indicated in the relevant attached JDF in the context of the outcomes and selection criteria described.

The highest rate an applicant can start at as a L1 is Level 1.4 (as negotiated with the principal). However, applicants may still be able to commence at a L2.1 or L3.1 if suitably qualified or with requisite experience.

Level 2, $70,432 - $75,516 per annum (pro-rata) (PSCA 2022)

Level 3, $79,156 - $84,977 per annum (pro-rata) (PSCA 2022)
