About the Roles
We have two new Level 6 opportunities available to join Main Roads and play an important role in influencing the future of our capital works program. This is an exciting time as we establish the new Transport Investment Strategy Office and respond to a changing funding environment, which places a renewed focus on ensuring robust and rigorous infrastructure investment planning and project evaluation processes.
These two Level 6 positions are available for immediate start in our Investment Planning team and Project & Economic Evaluation team working primarily on Main Roads projects. These teams work together closely to prioritise, evaluate and prepare funding submissions for major priority unfunded projects on the State road network.
In these positions, you will play a key role in guiding our major infrastructure investment program to ensure that it is aligned with our strategic drivers and provides economic and social benefits to the community.
Separately, two related Level 5 positions have been advertised. Applicants that are interested in these positions should refer to the separate Infrastructure Investment Planning Officer, Level 5 advertisement which provides details on the application process.
Infrastructure Investment Planning Analyst
This position will help develop our 10-year Unfunded Investment Program which guides future major investment priorities, through the prioritisation and development of a medium-term forward outlook of unfunded projects across the State road network.
As an Infrastructure Investment Planning Analyst, you will work with the regional offices and other business areas to prioritise unfunded projects and develop a pipeline of major investments to deliver on Main Roads’ strategic drivers. In your work, you will consider how projects can be sequenced and packaged for the purpose of attracting external funding and achieving our objectives.
You will play a key role in supporting internal and external funding processes, by assessing early-stage proposals for funding to ensure that the right projects are being progressed, and developing funding submissions to seek external funding when these projects are ready for an investment decision.
Project Evaluation Analyst
This position is based in our Economic & Project Evaluation team. In this role, you will support the evaluation of funded and unfunded projects to ensure that projects in our asset investment program provide value for money by delivering benefits to the community. You will work with others including, regional offices, other Main Roads branches and external consultants to prepare business cases and undertake project economic assessments.
We strongly encourage applicants with experience in one or more of the following fields to apply for these positions:
- Infrastructure investment prioritisation
- Economic evaluation
- Civil engineering

Applicants with the above backgrounds are also encouraged to consider applying for the related positions of Infrastructure Investment Planning Officer, Level 5, which have been advertised separately.
