JOB DESCRIPTION: 

This role will undertake the documentation and digitisation of moveable heritage collections using Vernon CMS. Based in West Perth, occasional travel to National Trust properties will be required, sometimes involving an overnight stay. The role will contribute to the management of and increase access to the National Trust's collections.
Key Duties:

1. Upgrading of existing data base records and collections documentation in Vernon CMS, including removal of duplicate records;
2. Preparation of standard reports including stock-take and valuations;
3. Accessioning of artefacts into Vernon CMS;
4. Research where required to support database records;
5. Photography of artefacts and coordination of collections photography, including supervision of photographer;
6. Preparation of content for online collections access;
7. Preparation of reports and other correspondence as required; and
8. Other duties as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.


SELECTION CRITERIA: 

Essential:

1. Demonstrated experience and well-developed knowledge of Verno CMS;
2. Demonstrated experience in collections documentation and digitisation in a museum or similar collecting institution;
3. Demonstrated research skills with application to collections documentation;
4. Demonstrated ability to work both as a team member and independently;
5. Excellent communication and reporting skills, verbal and written, with attention to detail;
6. Demonstrated information and technology skills, including database collections management systems and the use of Office Suite of software;
7. "C" Class Driver's Licence; and
8. National Police Clearance.

Desirable:

1. Tertiary qualifications in Museum Studies, Archival/Library studies or related disciplines;
2. Knowledge of collections management, including artefact handling and storage;
3. Experience with paper based legacy documentation records; and
4. Basic artefact photography skills.
