About the opportunity
We are establishing a Senior Executive Service (SES) pool to fill current and future vacant Executive Director and Director positions in the Climate and Sustainability and Approvals portfolios. Successful applicants to this pool may be placed into one of our SES positions for fixed-term contracts of up to five years.
About the roles
We have embarked on a major multi-year reform agenda and are seeking experienced executive directors and directors to join our team and help us shape the agency for the future.
These senior leadership positions will play a critical role in driving reform within the agency and delivering the strategic priorities of the department and the State Government. These roles will be responsible for building and leading diverse teams of skilled professionals and directing the operations of their directorates/branches. The occupants of these positions lead by example and consistently display our values by actively promoting strategies, policies and systems that supports the work of the department.
What we’re looking for
To be successful in a senior leadership role within the portfolios of Climate and Sustainability and Approvals, you will need to demonstrate the required experience, skills and leadership behaviours as outlined in the Leadership Position Profile for either an Executive Director or Director position (attached). The position profiles will be used throughout the selection process to establish the pool of suitable candidates.

A two (2) page covering letter which includes the achievements you have had during your career which addresses the ‘Deliver on high leverage areas’ and ‘Lead adaptively’ expectations in the context of the relevant Leadership Position Profile (attached).

Please note some of the positions referenced in the job advertisement are pending finalisation of assessment by the Public Sector Commission (PSC). Once the PSC have finalised this assessment, position details (classification and renumeration package, position number and title) will be confirmed and aligned with relevant department frameworks, policies and procedures.
This pool will operate for a period of 12 months to support the filling of current and anticipated future vacancies with these vacancies being offered as fixed-term contract opportunities with the possibility of extension. Pool applicants do not hold a right of review against appointment decisions made from the pool.
