About the opportunity
There is currently one (1) fixed-term, 24 month position available for immediate filling.
The internship will include a structured 2-year program run by our Diagnostics and Laboratory Services branch, which will be tailored to develop experienced Veterinarians or recent Veterinary Science graduates in skills and understanding in the following laboratory-based disciplines:
- Serology
- Virology
- Bacteriology
- Parasitology
- Molecular Diagnostics
- Pathology/Histology
- Biochemistry
As an intern, you will assist Veterinary Pathologists in the investigation, diagnosis and reporting of animal diseases in veterinary species, including surveillance for emergency animal diseases, emerging diseases, residue incidents and endemic disease diagnosis. You will contribute and collate diagnostic and surveillance data in support of WA’s livestock industry, while developing your own laboratory processes and skills.

DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency and all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.
