Rare economist role in the spectacular Kimberley!
Lead the Kimberley Development Commission’s work on economic data analysis, modelling and business case development
Help drive lasting change at the coal face of regional development and Aboriginal economic empowerment
The Kimberley Development Commission (KDC) is a statutory agency of the WA Government focused on economic and social development of the diverse and stunning Kimberley Region.
We are a small agency with a big remit. We work hard, we support each other closely, and we spend a lot of time listening to the communities we serve and helping Kimberley businesses, industries and communities achieve their development goals.
Most people working at KDC are formally employed by DPIRD under a service agreement between the two agencies. KDC works closely with DPIRD and other regional development commissions as part of the regional development portfolio.
About the opportunity
We are looking for a Principal Economist with at least 5 years professional experience to lead KDC’s work marshalling economic data and analysis to help the Kimberley achieve a more prosperous and resilient future.
Working with a multidisciplinary team of development professionals, you will have lead responsibility for delivery of economic advice on Kimberley development issues within government, and for presentation of economic analysis to the Kimberley community.
This will include research and analysis on key indicators of economic and social development; preparation of internal briefings and external reports; collaboration across the community and the regional development portfolio on economic challenges and reforms; and coordination of major projects involving economic and/or financial modelling. You will engage in comprehensive research and analysis of quantitative and qualitive data, shaping a robust evidence base that informs strategic decision-making. You will have the particular opportunity of working closely with Aboriginal leadership in the region to help deliver Closing the Gap goals in the Kimberley.

At KDC we are an equal opportunity employer, committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce. We value and strongly encourage people with disabilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, young people, women and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to apply for positions within our agency.
