The Role and our Branch
Merredin Residential College is seeking a friendly and dedicated Kitchen Hand to join their team.

The successful applicant will assist the Cook with food preparation for the College and external groups, whilst assisting with cleaning of the kitchen, utensils and equipment and clearing waste to appropriate areas. The successful applicant will assist with the serving of meals and washing dishes whilst assisting in maintaining organised and clean pantries, freezers, cool rooms and storerooms and will promptly report equipment and facilities faults whilst undertaking other related catering duties, as requested.
Located approximately 256 kilometres east of Perth in the Central Wheatbelt, Merredin Residential College has updated facilities with plenty of training opportunities for staff members. Merredin Residential College is proud to work in partnership with Merredin College. Up to 72 students are accommodated in a world class boarding facility whilst receiving an excellent education close to their hometown.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- undertake a practical test before employment
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
