Appointment Pool
Joseph Banks Secondary College (SC) are seeking to establish a pool for English teachers appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year.
Suitable applicants will ideally be passionate and dedicated educators, highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. You should provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their understanding and appreciation of English.
You should have high expectations, exhibit a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive and engaging classroom-learning environment. You should possess an ability to work as a collaborative team member and you will be committed to the development of strong professional learning communities focussed on student achievement and success.
Strong knowledge and skills in the delivery of English Senior Secondary courses is highly desirable. Suitable applicants will ideally have the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students. Applicants should have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and able to teach students of varying ability levels across Year 7 – 12 in a highly engaging manner.
As such, suitable applicants will ideally possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics. A strong working knowledge of teaching strategies to support literacy skills development and strong performance in National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) and demonstrated ability in the effective integration of innovative and engaging Information Communication Technology (ICT) based technologies and cooperative learning instructional strategies is highly desirable.
Joseph Banks SC, an Independent Public School, is located in the suburb of Banksia Grove, approximately 27 km from the Perth Central Business District (CBD). We currently accept students from Years 7-12. The vision for Joseph Banks SC is to create a vibrant culture of excellence, innovation, opportunity and success for students, staff and the community. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
