Position Profile: We are seeking to appoint a suitably experienced Director of Operations - State Health Operations Centre (SHOC) who will be responsible for the daily operations of the SHOC, across all the primary response capabilities. The Director will maintain oversight across the strategic aspects of the Centre together with the delivery of the critical support functions of the organisation. This role will operationally report to the Executive Director of SHOC located within the Department of Health with a dual reporting line (for administrative purposes) to the Executive Director, Health Programs (WACHS).
Area Profile: The State Health Operations Centre (SHOC) is a statewide program within the Clinical Excellence Division of the Department of Health. The SHOC brings together a range of central and distributed functions within the system to improve the coordination and efficiency of patient flow, manage the demand on emergency departments and ease system pressures. SHOC’s core functions include:
- Coordinating non-emergency patient transport across the metropolitan area through the establishment of a central Patient Transport Coordination Hub (PaTCH).
- Developing 24/7 system-wide monitoring and predictive capability to provide situational awareness across the health system that can be used to coordinate system-level responses to demand pressures through the establishment of the System Flow Centre (SFC).
- Establishing a centralised WA Virtual Emergency Department.
- Establishing functional and operational infrastructure and information communication technology requirements for the SHOC to be operational in a fit-for-purpose location.
