Your new role
We are seeking applications from enthusiastic and dynamic individuals for the position of Program Manager. Coordinates and manages the strategic development and delivery of projects/programs that contribute to the improvement of the WA health system, within the State Health Operations Centre.
The State Health Operations Centre (SHOC) is being established to bring together a range of central and distributed functions within the health system to deliver on a number of key system services The SHOC will transform how WA Health manages demand on emergency departments, hospitals and emergency ambulance patients, in supporting safe and efficient patient flow across the system. The SHOC team is working collaboratively with Health Service Providers (HSPs), hospital staff and partners to support WA Health’s vision of providing patients the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
The duties of this position include the following:
- Manages and reviews projects/programs related to the development and implementation of health system improvement initiatives.
- Applies a wide range of stakeholder engagement strategies to inform the development and implementation of health system improvement projects/programs.
- Develops detailed project/program implementation plans including comprehensive risk analysis.
- Leads and coaches’ teams involved with health and service improvement projects/programs; and supports committees and working parties involved in associated projects/programs.
- Develops strong working relationships in order to effectively liaise, consult and negotiate with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Responsible for overall coordination and management of project/program arrangements, including:
- Human, financial and physical resources,
- Governance development and representation,
- Stakeholder management and communications,
- Contract management of external consultants,
- State and Commonwealth reporting requirements,
- Monitoring and evaluation,

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
