About the Role
Main Roads Western Australia is growing rapidly due to technological advancements and their impact on the transport landscape. This growth is creating new challenges and opportunities within the organisation.
An exciting position has become available within Transport Portfolio Land and Property Services (TPLPS) which is a consolidation of the Transport portfolio’s land administration and property management functions.
As the Commercial and Leasing Manager you will negotiate, review and manage lease/licence agreements for commercial and leasing activities state wide to ensure legal compliance and adequate protection of state assets whilst leased/licenced to external parties eg licence operation of digital advertising signboards within Main Roads road reserves and commercial arrangements relating to the Matargurup Bridge.
In addition you will conduct complex and sensitive negotiations with respect to complex commercial leasing/licence arrangements in line with legislative and Government context, including engaging of consultants and reviewing and interpreting their reports. You will be responsible to manage complex contracts with private sector commercial operators and parties.
In addition, you will be required to perform comprehensive analysis of potential and actual commercialisation arrangements of the property portfolio and prepare relevant reports for review by the Acting Manager Commercial and Leasing Activities, Corporate Executive and Government.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated comprehensive experience to deliver in the following areas:
- Commercial and Leasing Activities: provide expert advice to key stakeholders and management in relation to relevant legislation and commercial aspects that impact property management, practices, procedures and commercialisation matters.
- Leadership and Management: provide leadership and manage a vast range of resources including financial, technological and physical resources, in addition to managing employee behaviour, performance and development.
- Stakeholder Relationships: lead and promote professional working relationships with stakeholders and represent Main Roads and/or TPLPS at community forums, meetings, business owners, property managers and potential lease candidates applying commercial law and retail shop legislation in all property dealings.

- Development, implementation and management of commercial arrangements associated with residential, industrial and vacant property in accordance with regulatory frameworks and legislation.
- Negotiate and facilitate complex commercial arrangements and contracts.
- Manage financial, technological, physical and other resources within agreed allocations to meet agreed outcomes.
- Building and enhancing stakeholder relationships
- Evidence of possession of your current Western Australian ‘C-A’ Class (car) motor vehicle drivers’ licence or an approved equivalent.
