This is a Recruitment Pool for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time and Casual appointments. Fixed Term and Casual appointments will be made with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.  Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur.

This is an “open-ended” recruitment pool, and as such the following should be noted:

The panel will monitor this recruitment pool for applications and will assess on a regular basis. 

Please note: A decision has been made to extend the closing date to sumbit applications to Friday 29 September 2023. 

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur.

Area Profile

Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is one of Australia's leading teaching tertiary hospitals. Located at the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre 4km from Perth city centre, SCGH provides a comprehensive range of clinical services including trauma, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, general medicine, general surgery, and cardiac care. It is home to WA's only comprehensive cancer centre - the largest cancer treatment centre in the State - and is the State's principal hospital for neurosurgery and liver transplants. 

Some of our Acute Services currently recruiting are as follows. You will be asked to identify from these as your preferred area on application;

Ward C14 - General Medical, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Immunology and Rheumatology – A brand new state of the art ward, redeveloped with 25 beds and 4 isolation rooms.

Ward G72 - Medical Assessment Unit – High turnover acute medical – Looking after GI bleeds and acute medical presentations awaiting further investigations.

Ward G74 – Acute Medical – Longer stay, our ICU step down looking after general medicine, complex organic behavioural management and eat disorder

Woods Ward – Located at Hollywood Private Hospital – Looking after patients transitioning from acute medical to sub-acute medical

About this role

This position, under the direction of the relevant Senior Registered Nurse(s), practises as a Registered Nurse in keeping with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board Registration Standards and Nursing Practice Decision Flowchart; provides comprehensive evidence-based nursing care to patients as part of a multidisciplinary team; upholds and functions within the core values of the organisation and nursing values of Care, Respect, Innovation, Teamwork & Integrity.

This role reports to the Nurse Manager.
