Education Business Services (EBS) Division are seeking to establish a pool for Graduate Officers, for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within 2023.
We have 6-8 Graduate Officer positions, commencing January 2023. These are permanent appointments following a 6-month probation period.

The Department of Education is Western Australia’s largest employer with approximately one third of the Government workforce in some 800 worksites across the State. EBS is a large directorate within the Department and provides professional business services and support to Western Australian public schools, statutory boards and divisions within the Department of Education. The areas you might work in
The Financial Services Directorate is responsible for a number of key finance-related functions within the Department, including financial policy and governance, financial reporting and school financial management and support.
The Financial Planning and Resourcing Directorate is responsible for a number of key finance-related functions within the Department, including overall budget and resource management, high-level strategic financial advice, school resourcing, management of the Student Centred Funding Model and financial planning.
The Commercial Services Directorate is responsible for providing procurement and commercial legal support to the Department and schools; contract planning, establishment and management; insurance and fleet management.
The Information and Communication Technologies Division is responsible for the management and delivery of the Department’s ICT-related services and functions. The Division encompasses three Directorates, being Governance and Planning Integration; Build and Deployment; and Operations and Customer Service.
The Infrastructure Division has responsibility for the planning and provision of facilities (land and buildings), which includes land planning, student enrolment forecasting and facilities planning, strategic asset management, capital works programs, maintenance and minor works programs and provision of facilities-related services.
The Business and Customer Services Directorate supports the objectives and outcomes of clients by providing value for money corporate services through streamlined business systems and processes and skilled and motivated people.

The Department’s Graduate Program offers you the chance to start your own bright future with a personalised development opportunity like no other. Recruitment process

We are selecting suitable applicants using a combination of assessment methods throughout the shortlisting and further assessment stages of the recruitment process to determine your suitability for placement into the pool.
To be suitable for the pool, you will need to demonstrate that you meet the following requirements:
- The initial assessment of your application will be based on your eligibility, qualifications, written submission and CV.
- Further assessment stages will be based on the JDF selection criteria and the EBS Delivery Principles, along with examples of your skills or experience.
The JDF selection criteria are:
- Sound oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with individuals at all levels and build effective relationships.
- Sound research and problem-solving skills and the ability to identify appropriate solutions.
- Initiative and sound organisational skills including the ability to effectively multi-task, meet deadlines and work effectively within a team environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant public sector policies and practices.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course
- hold a relevant tertiary degree.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
