This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2023

Applecross Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Mathematic Teacher to join their team.

The successful applicant should be a passionate teacher of Mathematics, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. The successful applicant will ideally possess professional knowledge, practice, and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary Mathematics curriculum using a positive, student-focused approach, and will ideally have success working with students across a range of ability levels.

As the successful applicant, you should be highly motivated; student and relationship focused and able to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences. You will ideally utilise innovative initiatives and be able to work effectively within a dynamic team. In addition, you should have the ability to promote an environment of active and positive learning; and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their very best.

We aim to widen students' horizons by presenting a diverse, relevant and contemporary curriculum that will prepare them to thrive in an ever changing society. The curriculum reflects our desire for students to become responsible and flexible thinkers who will be well prepared for the challenges ahead.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
