About us Within the Resource and Environmental Regulation Group the Geological Survey and Resource Strategy Division (GSRSD) is responsible for the facilitation of investment through the provision of geoscience data and products and for setting strategic resource policy.
The division manages the Abandoned Mines Team and the Exploration Incentive Scheme including the co-funded drilling program. The division also provides information and products to support the approval of mining tenements and petroleum titles and other related legislative compliance processes.

The position
This position is responsible for the management, archiving and quality control of seismological data generated by WA-ARRAY, a rolling 40 km-spaced grid of earthquake monitoring stations across Western Australia. It will work with senior seismologists in preparing data for input into various seismological processing routines as appropriate including local seismicity and tectonic studies and will participate in extensive and frequent fieldwork campaigns.
Additionally the seismologist will initiate and run seismological data processing projects as appropriate.
You will be the ideal candidate if you can undertake regular travel, work in remote areas and occasionally work outside normal business hours.
This position is located in East Perth, conveniently close distance from public transport and nearby City of Perth parking. - Bachelor of Science Degree (Geoscience) or an approved equivalent Degree.
- Experience in the acquisition, quality control and data management of seismological data.
- Experience is earthquake location and magnitude techniques.
