About the Role
This role will suit someone who is highly motivated, relationship-focused, and passionate about creating exciting learning experiences to ignite a desire to learn in students.
The Ideal Teacher
The successful applicant will ideally possess a strong knowledge of the Western Australian English curriculum and effective teaching programs to build upon our current outstanding delivery of teaching and learning. You will ideally be student focused and able to show highly developed interpersonal skills while working collaboratively with staff and our wider community.
EKC is an explicit instruction school. Applicants should have an aptitude for explicit instruction philosophy and embrace the highly developed pedagogical practice of the college or show the use of explicit instruction to drive student improvement.
A knowledge of Targeted Teaching is desirable, as EKC is in partnership with the Kimberley Schools Project (KSP) and supports teachers with coaching and professional learning.
Knowledge and application of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is desirable. Applicants should be willing to engage in whole school development and practise. An understanding of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework is desirable, as EKC has greater than 50% Indigenous student enrolment.
The successful applicant will ideally have an ability to engage in collaborative planning and a willingness to engage in school wide improvement projects. An understanding of differentiated teaching & learning practices catering for individual needs is desirable.
We will consider an internal secondment opportunity for permanent teachers in other locations within the Department of Education who would like to work at our school for up to three years, and retain their substantive position. EKC is one of the largest Kindergarten to Year 12 schools in the state with approximately 900 students enrolled. With almost 50% of enrolments being Indigenous, it also has the largest enrolment of Aboriginal students of any school in the State.
