The Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC) is seeking motivated professionals to help build WA Government’s Cyber Security Uplift team
The WA Government is investing $25.5m into Office of Digital Government’s Cyber Security Unit to increase the Government’s ability to prevent, detected, and respond to cyber threats. The unit is expanding into one of the largest dedicated cyber security teams in the WA Government to add new capabilities and expand existing programs.
WA Government agencies run some of the largest networks in the state, with a diverse range of technologies managing sensitive information and services for citizens and industry. The Cyber Security Unit’s role is to assist agencies with their cyber security programs and to develop whole-of-government cyber security solutions.
We are establishing a Whole-of-Government Cyber Security Uplift Team capability to help and advice to State Government organisations as they increase their cyber security maturity.
There is currently one (1) permanent position available for immediate filling.
Suitable applicants will be placed into a Whole-of-Government Pool which permanent and/or fixed term appointments may be made throughout DPC and across other Public Sector agencies. The pool will operate for a period of 12 months from when the breach claims period has been finalised. By applying for this pool, you agree for your application to be shared amongst multiple Public Sector agencies.
This position is based in Perth, Western Australia, however short-term remote work options are available for inter-state applicants who unable to travel immediately.
About the Role:
- Take the lead in delivering an ongoing program of service offerings to help WA Government agencies in implementing the WA Government Cyber Security Policy, including work like:
- Internal and external vulnerability assessments
- Review and gap analysis of security controls
- Risk assessment activities.
- Implementing security controls, including technical solutions.
- Design, develop, and roll out more service offerings to meet agency needs and to best leverage capabilities within the unit.
- Work closely with leaders in the Security Operations Centre and Penetration Testing teams to integrate the Cyber Security Unit’s offerings.
- Engage with agencies to identify opportunities to develop whole-of-government solutions to common cyber security issues.
- Provide expert cyber security advice to senior leadership and Government.
- Supervise and develop a team of six.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for applicant with some of the below:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in cyber/information security roles.
- Experience with industry standard security frameworks (for example: ASD Essential 8, ASD ISM, NIST Cyber Security Framework, the ISO/IEC 27000-series.)
- Knowledge of technical and infrastructure security concepts, particularly cloud security and/or modern. application development.
- Experience leading small teams.
- A relevant tertiary qualification or industry certification is desired but not required.
