The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) currently have a number of permanent full-time Auto Electrician positions available for an immediate start.

About the Role
As an Auto Electrician, you will work positively within a team servicing, repairing and maintaining DFES’ fleet vehicles and associated equipment such as Elevated work platforms/aerial appliances, automated computer systems, electric pneumatic systems and various integrated OEM heavy vehicle systems.
You will ensure the quality of work completed internally and by external service providers is always maintained and provide technical advice and training as required.
You will also be provided with continuous on the job training and undertake a variety of relevant High Risk licences training. Once appropriately trained, you will take part in a 24-hour roster system where you are required to be on call, to provide technical support.
During high threat seasons you may also be called upon to provide technical support at fire grounds and incidents.

To be eligible for the position, you must have an unrestricted heavy ridged (HR) licence which must remain valid for the duration of employment and trade certificate in heavy automotive electrical or allied trade.
This position is financially rewarding with remuneration benefits such as;
- Participating in an on-call roster.
- Attending emergency incidents via air and/or road out of hours as well as during business hours.
- Availability allowance
With Management endorsement, Technicians will have access to attractive allowance payments when required to be on-call or to work outside of standard hours.
*The weekly remuneration of $1,623.88 is based on weekly salary $1,373.88 plus an attraction and retention incentive (ARI) payment of $250 pw which has been approved until the 31 December 2022.
ARI payments are subject to periodic review and approval. The ARI payment is set to expire on 31 December 2022. Extension of the ARI payment beyond that term is subject to further government decision.
In addition to the base salary listed above, the successful applicant will be entitled to attractive allowances and overtime rates of pay for hours worked outside of normal business hours.
