The Roles
The PTA is committed to managing its operations in an environmentally sustainable manner and minimising adverse impacts on the environment and communities, whilst delivering an essential service to the community of Western Australia.
The PTA’s Environmental Services Branch in our Infrastructure Planning and Land Services Division provides environmental and Aboriginal heritage advice to PTA’s business units enabling infrastructure planning and construction to proceed and supporting operations to comply with our environmental and Aboriginal heritage obligations and commitments.
We are looking for two GIS professionals to join the Geospatial Services section of our Environmental Services Branch. In these roles you will be contributing to the planning of safe passenger transport services on rail, coach, buses and ferries, as well as the delivery of large infrastructure projects to expand our service network under METRONET.
As our Senior GIS Coordinator you will lead the Division’s activities to deliver geospatial analysis, mapping and advisory services which enable infrastructure planning to proceed and the PTA to obtain environmental and Aboriginal heritage approvals.
To be successful as a Senior GIS Coordinator you will have extensive experience in a geographic information environment and/or a relevant qualification in Geographic Information Systems, Spatial Science, Surveying, Cartography or related discipline. You will require high level expertise in geospatial data management and governance including data architecture and web mapping applications.
As our GIS Officer you will provide professional geospatial analysis and mapping advice to support the Division’s environmental and infrastructure planning and delivery functions using appropriate data analysis and cartographic techniques to undertake digital mapping activities and information processing tasks.
To be successful as a GIS Officer you will need to have experience in a geographic information environment and/or a relevant qualification in Geographic Information Systems, Spatial Science, Surveying, Cartography or related disciplines. You will require experience in digital mapping and data capture, editing and analysis tasks within common GIS applications.
Both roles are three (3) year fixed term opportunities which have the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
