The Perth Zoo Science Program provides support to the Species Recovery Programs to maintain captive breeding colonies and to provide animals for establishment or supplementation of wild populations.
Similar appointments may be made from this process in locations throughout Western Australia within a 12-month period to positions that may be permanent or contract, including contract appointments with the possibility of subsequent permanency.

Job Description
Manages breeding of native species, assists the Program Leader in implementing policies and procedures and engages with relevant staff in Perth Zoo to maximise the welfare of animals within the breeding program.
Supervises a team of Technical Officers to ensure that the objectives of the Program are met while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of staff.
Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following five (5) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than four (4) pages in total.

Certificate III in Zoo Keeping or Captive Animal Management or equivalent.

Extensive experience in animal husbandry and species management in a zoo or similar environment.

Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and mentor a team of technical staff to achieve organisational outcomes.

Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to effectively communicate and interact at all levels.

Knowledge of and adherence to the principles of equity and safety in the workplace.
Applicants who meet selection criteria 2 and 3 to a high degree will be particularly well-regarded.
Note: The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current (issue date not older than 6 months) and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
