Regional Livestock Biosecurity Coordinator
Level 6 | Permanent – Full Time
- Lead a team of biosecurity officers that contribute to the animal biosecurity and welfare outcomes of Western Australia.
- Deliver coordinated communication and regulatory outcomes to support government and industry stakeholders.
- Lead animal biosecurity or regulatory projects to develop the Departments capacity.
What will your typical day look like?
The Regional Livestock Biosecurity Coordinator will lead a team of Biosecurity Officers to ensure operational program plans and responses are implemented to identify, prevent and respond to biosecurity risks whilst maintaining high standards of animal welfare and product integrity. This key position is instrumental in communicating key biosecurity activities and working with biosecurity officers to respond to priority biosecurity risks in Western Australia. You will be working with a diverse set of stakeholders, including producers, livestock agents and supply chain stakeholders.
Key responsibilities are (but not limited to):
- Lead and coordinates a team of Biosecurity Officers to undertake and report on biosecurity surveillance, control and eradication activities in accordance with the requirements of program plans, policies, legislation and standard operating procedures
- Provide timely and accurate advice on operational delivery constraints in relevant biosecurity policies and practices
- Support and undertakes regulatory activities, including investigation of suspected non-compliance and conduct of enforcement activities, under the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Act 2007 and other Acts and Regulations
- Participate in and coordinate emergency response activities as required

The Regional Livestock Biosecurity Coordinator will be successful in maintaining effective working relationships with relevant Government departments and industry groups to promote the development of the WA Livestock industry, while implementing and supporting the development of approved programs. You will have proven highly developed interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills in order to achieve success in this role.

To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia.
